If you're looking for traditional pizza, you might not be happy here, but it's a nice place with friendly service and good food. Overall we were happy, just surprised at what we ended up with. The other two pies, a pepperoni and a meatball, were good plenty of toppings. The pie was good, but the vinegar in the dressing overpowered the mushroom flavor, which was disappointing. I had the special - an organic mushroom pie with dressed arugula on top. Pizzas are good they are thin, so small one person with a decent appetite can eat the whole pie, especially if you don't have appetizers first. Fireside Pies - Grapevine 4. I won't do it justice here but it had vodka, mint, and ginger ale. They also have interesting drinks, such as the nightly special when we were there. So don't order it if you are wanting something like the Melting Pot fondue this is not that. The whole thing was tasty and all ages at the table liked it. The fondue was served with delicious flat bread that made this experience almost like breadsticks and marinara dipping sauce, with cheese added. Olive Garden Italian Restaurant - 301 W State Hwy 114, Grapevine. Mi Dia From Scratch - 1295 S Main St, Grapevine. Again, not what we were expecting: The fondue was really the tomato sauce and melted cheese that you would get if you scraped the toppings off a regular pizza. I highly recommend the spinach artichoke dip, bruschetta, and their Italian salad. Our table of three adults and two children (aside: we were offered a high chair and booster seat without having to ask) first ordered fondue. You'll notice it first when you walk in - the lighting is dim, romantic even the booths are dark brown wood and have a rich feeling you can watch the pie makers toss the pizza dough in the air. Going on a Friday or Saturday night might be challenging to find parking. This place is nothing that you will expect, which doesn't mean better or worse, just different. Now, two more have opened - Mi Dia (Mexican) and Winewoods (American) - which have overcrowded the parking demand. When Fireside opened, it was only one of two restaurants on the site (the other is Bob's Chop House). (There are 2 and 4-top tables along a banquette, sort of "half-booths" but still comfy.) The only downside is parking. Almost all of the indoor seating is in booths, so it is pretty comfortable for just about any size party. The porch is adjacent to a small sidewalk that separates Fireside from the adjacent restaurant (Mi Dia). There is outdoor seating in a covered "three-season" porch, but we find seating inside is the best option. The pizza menu is not terribly extensive, but you can certainly modify anything on the menu and create your own. Salads are large, so if you order one it should be enough for two people. Fireside is a bit more of an upscale experience and is a nice spin on traditional pizzas. Grapevine (and Southlake) have an embrassament of riches when it comes to selecting a pizza place.
